Geeta Phogat said, ‘Winning and losing does not matter, but the kind of defeat that is taking place hurts. Finally, I could not play my way. I gave Sarita a chance to rule. His sister Geeta Sangeeta won the 63kg title. In the heavyweight division, Manisha defeated Sakshi Malik 6-1. Bronze medalist at Rio Olympics 2016 Sakshi has been suffering for some time and is losing in domestic competitions.

Sangeeta suffered a setback from Lovleen Kaur of Punjab in her first game but later did well in the following games. Divya Kakran who won the bronze medal at the Under-23 World Championships also lost. She was defeated by Pinky who later won a gold medal. Kulwinder received a silver medal. Shivani Panwar and Simran also impressed in the 50kg category. Shivani defeated fellow Tokyo Olympics teammates Seema Bisla 7-2 in the semi-finals and defeated Simran to win the gold medal.
